Do You Run A Home-Based Business? Three Ways A Self Storage Unit May Be Beneficial To You

Blog

It is not uncommon for people to run a business out of their home. Some common home-based businesses that you may be involved in include Mary Kay, Avon, Tupperware or LuLaRoe. If you own a home-based business, there are many challenges that you may face. But did you know that renting a self storage unit can help you combat a few of these challenges? Here are three of the ways that renting a self storage unit may be beneficial to you if you run a home-based business.

Gives You Space to Store Products

One of the biggest advantages to renting out a self storage unit when you have a home-based business is that the unit gives you space to store your business products without cluttering your home. You expand your product line and carry more, or invest in items like shelving and pop-up canopies that can be useful if you set up a booth to sell your products. Many home-based business owners minimize the amount of product they carry simply because of space confines. That is no longer an issue when you rent a storage unit.

Helps You Separate Home and Work

Another benefit to renting out a self storage unit is that it can help you to separate home and work. When you work from home, your work can sometimes take over family time or time you should be spending relaxing. It is easy to get an email inquiring about availability and pop into your office and look to see what exactly you have. But if you are looking to separate your home and work life and create distinct boundaries, a storage unit makes that possible. Since you don't have the products or items on hand, that email may just have to wait until your regular work hours.

Is Cheaper Than Renting Commercial Space

The last benefit to renting out a self storage unit is that it is cheaper than renting commercial space and you are not required to sign a lease. If you have outgrown your home and need more space, you may be considering a commercial space to store or house your products. But you may have to sign a multi-year lease and the monthly payment eats away at your profit. A storage unit is month-to-month and much cheaper.

If you need more space, are looking to expand your product line or what to separate your home life from your work life, renting a storage unit can help make that possible. Contact a self storage unit facility in your area, such as Access Self Storage, to inquire about sizing, pricing and availability.

Keeping Your Storage Unit Clean

After we moved into a smaller home, we realized that a lot of our stuff would need to be moved into a storage unit. Unfortunately, after we moved things into our storage space, we realized that it was going to be pretty tough to keep clean. To keep our stuff from getting damaged, we decided to go through our unit, organize our things into boxes, and try hard to keep it organized. However, after a series of trials and errors, we were able to figure out a system that worked for us, and our unit is still clean. Check out this blog to learn more about tidying up your storage unit.
